i’ve loved them all…..  good morning gentle readers.  its a bright sunshiny day comparatively speaking considering the rain we had for most of last week.  but today is a special day, a day that will always remain bright and shining in my heart. Today, 70 years ago, John Lennon was born.

naturally, im a hippie born 15 years too late, but i grew up loving the Beatles with everything i had (along with the grateful dead, but thats a whole nother part of my heart and life).  i would write their lyrics on my books in school when i was bored – all you need is love.  give peace a chance – the anthems of my youth.  my backpack was also covered in lyrics, along with fone numbers, peace signs etc lol.  i miss that backpack – that was my life lol. it also functioned as my first aid kit, frisbee carrier and assorted goodies… 😉

im sitting here listening to bob seger’s against the wind and i find the last lyrics totally apropro im well those drifters days have passed me now, i’ve got so much more to think about, deadlines and commitments, what to leave in, what to leave out, against the wind, im still running against the wind.  and i believe in my heart of hearts that i  will always be running against the wind, searching for that something that is just out of my reach. but then i think back to the beatles, In My Life, and it all comes back to me and i find myself complete again.  Golden Slumbers is my favorite song, i sang it to my children when they were little, but In My Life, is the soundtrack of my life.  no one has ever written a song that so eloquently put my life, my feelings, my past, my  friends both living and dead, former lovers and my husband so well.

I think, that in honor of John, i will leave you with the entire lyrics and link to the video, instead of my usual just a lyric or two.  I give you now, In My Life:

Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney

There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain

All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new

Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more
